The 38th Seattle International Film Festival will run from May 17 - June 10. This year’s festival boasts 24 world premiers, 273 feature films and 187 shorts. Among the features is 360, directed by Fernando Meirelles and starring Ben Foster, Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Anthony Hopkins and Maria Flor. 360’s theatrical release is set for August 2012.
Foster: We all have urges. We all have fantasy lives. We all feel at some point undervalued by a lover or perhaps we undervalue our partner, be [it] a mundane existence in a tired marriage or young love that has run off the fumes of early honeymoon romance. Straying happens. Desire exists. Sex is the mechanism for intimacy. We feel less lonely in the world. The film poses the questions from across the globe in a broad sweep. How do we feel less lonely in the world? Is it an affair? Is it addiction? I don’t believe the film gives answers so much as it asks questions.
What a difference a day makes…
Magnolia Pictures has scheduled two of its festival pick-ups for the summer with Lauren Greenfield’s Sundance favorite doc The Queen of Versailles being released on July 6, and Fernando (City of God) Meirelles’ globe-trotting drama 360 […] coming out a month later on August 3. (ComingSoon)
A truly international film, 360 was shot on location in Vienna, Paris, London, Bratislava and Rio de Janeiro. Jude Law plays a travelling businessman who is contemplating a liaison with a prostitute; Rachel Weisz, a married woman who is breaking off a relationship with a younger man; Anthony Hopkins, a man searching for his missing daughter; Ben Foster, a sex offender recently released from prison. Ben Foster’s scenes with Maria Flor are the most tense I’ve felt in a cinema in ages.

This scene with Sir Hopkins and Maria Flor feeds into Ben’s story in the film. Enjoy!
Ben Foster, Fernando Meirelles and Maria Flor at TIFF 2011
Ben Foster and Maria Flor in a clip from the upcoming film 360.
Fernando Meirelles directed the romantic tale, penned by Peter Morgan, that will open Britain’s largest festival.
Metro is reporting that one of the storylines is about “one man who decides not to cheat on his wife and those affected by this vow.” Guessing this is Jude & Rachel’s storyline.
The attendance list for this year’s TIFF is out of this world. Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster will both attend the festival to support Rampart. Ben will also be supporting his film 360 at the fest. Both films made Moviefone’s short list of this year’s must-see movies.
Two of Ben’s upcoming films (Rampart and 360) are on the list. More details on why the films may be contenders at Movie City News.
