The “Aloha” Monkey

Location: Inside right forearm

Meaning: The image was created by Norman Collins, also known as “Sailor Jerry.” Collins rode the rails as a child, and he learned to tattoo by practicing on fellow riders. As an adult he became a sailor and professional tattoo artist. He was a big fan of traditional Japanese tattooing, and he introduced a number of innovations in American tattooing.
