It was announced today that Ben has landed the role of John Gotti, Jr. in Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father. The film will be directed by Barry Levinson, who also directed Ben in Liberty Heights (1999).
Ben joins Al Pacino, Kelly Preston and John Travolta, who will play Gotti Sr.
Ben seems excited about the project. He released a statement saying:
“Barry Levinson was the first director who took a chance on me, and I have a career because of him. This is a film about family, fathers and sons. I am deeply honored for the opportunity to work with Barry and the amazing cast he is assembling to help bring the story of the Gotti family to the screen.”
This production has made a lot of headlines. Lindsay Lohan’s name is attached (she’s in negotiations to play Gotti Jr.’s wife Kim). Joe Pesci is suing the producers. Nick Cassavetes was the original director, but he dropped out of the project to focus on Yellow, a project that Ben was cast in but is no longer attached to.
