Ben’s brother Jon has a music project coming out. The band is called badbad. Their Soundcloud page describes them as “electronic mixed with blues and soul.” In addition to this song, they’ve posted a cover of Nina Simone’s “Sinner Man.” Jon tweeted recently that they were shooting a video.

Ben and Jon at the premier for The Door in the Floor. The peek-a-boo chest tattoo is duly noted. In case all those stripes get the best of you, Baby Jon will soothe your savaged retinas. (That’s dad waiting in the wings.)

The Fosters. Jon will buy you flowers; Ben will toss his shirt near your vase.

A Jon Foster sighting is always a good thing. Ben’s hair looks dyed darker, probably as part of his prep for Gotti. (candids from May 29, 2011)

Round-up

  • I saw Rampart last month and thought the characters and cinematography were amazing.  It’s a film about a man becoming mentally unraveled while under heavy public scrutiny. As far as I could tell, Jon Foster's role ended up on the cutting room floor, so the brothers don't share any scenes, but Ben has a substantial role and is in the movie three times.
  • Both Ben and his production partner/bro-friend Oren Moverman are talking about doing a romantic comedy these days. Duh, dudes, do it together! While I watch.
  • Contrary to a rumor that took hold earlier this year, I still don’t think Ben is in Prometheus. His name is nowhere to be found in the new trailer.
  • I read some heavy spoilers about Ben’s role in 360. Reviews of his performance have been really great while reviews of the movie are tepid. (Many reviewers wanted his character to get more screen time and back story.) To be fair, the version of the movie that the linked reviewer saw was unfinished. You can also read the film’s press kit here.
  • Still not excited about Gotti.

I don’t know if you are familiar with Ben Foster? He and his brother have one of the original masks. They like to wear it at Comic Con.

Billy Campbell: I didn’t know that. That’s hilarious. Ben is friends with my younger brother. I had no idea that he had a The Rocketeer mask. (Laughs)

Jon on Ben’s Mentorship

Has your older brother, actor Ben Foster, been like a mentor to you?
Absolutely. I’d go to him and I’d say, “I’m having this problem on the set, and I can’t really seem to do this or I can’t seem to do that.” And he would say one sentence and it would really sum it all up so I could go in and do my thing.
